As she meanders and makes her way to her Aunt's, Munci notices that the circus is in town! She dreams of going to the circus, but all is quiet at the circus because it’s Sunday and the circus doesn't perform on that one day in the week. Munci is heartbroken that she won't have a chance to see the sights.
When she finally tears herself away from the circus grounds, she turns back one last time and notices the carousel. Her heart nearly explodes with the rush of desire she feels because she so badly wants to ride the carousel, but, alas, the carousel is closed with a tarp nearly draped over the entire ride.
When the little girl finally arrives at her Aunty's house, she is late and very, very hungry. Her aunt greets her and feeds and then does something very special. She gives the child a magical box found on her travels overseas. She warns the girl to never open the box because there is something very special inside. Once opened, the magic of the box might be lost. Munci promises to never, never, ever open the box and is on her way to return to home, her mother and her little brother.

A charming adult children's book--

Story has a wonderful tone and a storyline that draws you in. Children would enjoy the quirkiness of the story which relies on some old-world historical details such as a great-grandmother might share. The artwork is almost mystical and really adds to the story.
