About the Author
Roland Smith first worked with animals at the Portland Zoo, and he has been involved in animal rescues and conservation work around the world for more than twenty years. He is the author of numerous books for young readers, including JACK'S RUN, ZACH'S LIE, CRYPTID HUNTERS, PEAK, TENTACLES, and the Storm Runners series. The secret to getting kids to love reading

I'm a 5th grade teacher and I've spent years learning how to get kids to love reading. Whatever it is, Roland Smith has got it. I am currently reading Cryptid Hunters to my students and they LITERALLY jump up and down, begging me to read another chapter. They're checking out sequels from the library and loving reading. Every book that Roland Smith writes, has this effect.
I bought this book the day it came out and loved every word. He is getting ready to merge 3 series' (Jaguar, Cryptid Hunters and Sasquatch). It has action, adventure, humor and heart. I would say that it's good for a boy, but honestly, I think any kid would love it.... really, any person over 8. I've even gotten my husband to read some of his books, even though he's a non-fiction guy. Whatever the price, this book is worth it. The only down side is that you'll have to wait for the final installment!

Great book

I love the Cryptid series as a reader, a mom, and an elementary librarian. My son and I both read the series and it i great to have a good story line and great characters to discuss. I love to recommend these books for boys at my school who may not always be willing to step away from their funny books, but the idea of cryptids always appeals to them. The pace is quick and the characters are so appealing. I highly recommend this book and series. Cannot wait for more!

WOW!! This book will grab young readers and make them apart of an amazing adventure...........

I first read Tentacles from a suggestion of Michael P. Spradlin, Killer Species author on Facebook. I didn't realized until I was reading the book from Amazon reviews that this was the second book. I loved Tentacles, Marty, Grace, Luther and all the characters really take hold of you and you become part of the group. After Tentacles, the end has the information for Chupacabra, so I added that to my kindle. I'm a 50 year old slow reader and work wake up early to read the book and on my way to work and home. WOW!! This book was just as good as the first one. In this book, Marty, Luther and Dylan (whom is a character in the book Sasquatch), goes to the Ark owned by Grace's grandfather Noah Blackwood. The book, also grabs you and takes u in and you become a character in the story. I love that Tentacles and Chupacarba are on the Kindle and sadden that I had to purchase Cryptid Hunters as a book form since it's not on Kindle. Once I finish I will purchased all 3 books and donate them to my daughter's teacher for other 5th graders to read. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book and who are Noah's spys that are on the island. What happens to the dinosaurs, the pandas and what happened with the TV episode that Grace had changed on Noah's wildlife TV show. These books are exciting and if your child is looking for an adventure these books are it. They are easy reading and your child will be lost in an amazing world with all new characters that they would like to meet. Now, if they ever make a movie of these books. I suggest that they make Calum Worthy, who plays Dez on the Disney Show Austin & Alley, play Luther. He reminds me of Luther when I read the book.
