Excellent story centering on finding something you can do and ...

Excellent story centering on finding something you can do and working hard to excel at it. Concepts of teamwork, perseverance, supporting your friends, taking time out from hard work for necessary rest breaks, and good sportsmanship are addressed.
On the fun side, there are hilarious moments involving those scamming ponies Flim and Flam at their carnival of show bunnies, along with Angel Bunny's always humorous antics. Did I mention the story essentially centers on the quiet little strong-willed furball? If Angel can't find a way to join up with the rabbit revue, perhaps he can find another outlet for his innumerable talents...like herding cattle? Hijinks ensue as Fluttershy and Angel observe Applejack and Winona practicing their fancy herding skills and attempt to emulate their expertise. But herding cattle isn't all bun and games for the pair, so maybe they will need a little help from their friends to succeed at this challenging endeavor. You will cheer "yay" as the Pony and partner pairs head to the Fine Furry Friends Fair to round up livestock--no flying allowed, mind you! Can the Pegasus Pony and her little lagomorph do it, especially up against tough competition like Applejack?
As a side note, I was overjoyed to see a book centering on Angel (and Fluttershy). My own rabbit of 8 1/2 years, named Angel by coincidence, passed away recently. As someone who has had rabbits in the home for over 20 years, Fluttershy's Angel Bunny is a true delight to watch in My Little Pony, as he completely epitomizes the spoiled houserabbit. Anyone who has lived with houserabbits know they rule the roost and with them, it's my way or the bunny path highway! Kudos to My Little Pony creators for being secretly savvy to this fact! Besides being a solid educational read for children for the reasons noted above, this book gets 4 hooves up (Pegasus, after all!) for adult fans of this great cartoon series that has won the hearts of both young and old.
After the story, there are plenty of bonus activity pages featuring show accurate sketches of Angel (Angel's picture is on the back cover of the book in full color); however, scattered throughout the book are the usual stock images of Fluttershy and a standard rabbit. Like the prior MLP chapter books in this series, there is a jumbo Enterplay standee trading card in the rear featuring Fluttershy that also depicts a show accurate rabbit (not Angel) hiding among the pictured trees.

My Little Pony meets Babe-a nice final entry in the chapter book series

While I realize I'm not in the target age group for this book, I'm a big fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and was interested to hear new stories about each of the main characters, and this one didn't disappoint.
When the Fine Furry Friends Fair-an animal herding competition comes to town, Fluttershy's pet rabbit/bunny, Angel, is bound and determined to enter and compete in the contest. Can Fluttershy overcome her stage fright to help her rabbit friend? And can a tiny bunny really herd sheep?
As I said in the title, the plot is essentially the MLP version of "Babe", but that doesn't make it any less interesting or cute. After many failed attempts of training Angel, Fluttershy is hesitant to continue, fearing the failure and humiliation of not only herself, but her favorite pet too. But eventually, she learns to not worry so much and just have fun, especially when she finds that Angel isn't too concerned about winning- he just wants to prove he can do something awesome...and he DOES, in his own unique way (with help from Fluttershy's friends, of course).
And SPOILER ALERT: We get a nice twist where Angel doesn't exactly win the contest, but it's okay, because he and Fluttershy gain a much better prize in the end. I won't spoil anymore, but it was nice to not do the stereotypical ending and have them win. It's much more realistic.

All n' all, all six of these short chapter books were pretty decent-some better than others. It might all just depend on who your favorite characters are. But if you're a MLP fan, give these stories a read-you won't be disappointed.

My daughter does not like to read, but loves these chapter books. It gets her reading. They include enough pictures but a great first chapter boooks for kids.
