Good fun...if you like spiders

Good fun...if you like spiders. And who doesn't like spiders? Having already become a fan of Jen Ponce's writing, I knew what to expect when I started reading this collection. And I wasn't disappointed. Each story takes you on a wonderful journey. I liked every short, but must admit my favorite was the first. A story about Neutria! Simply awesome. It was a sort if prequel to the Devany Miller stories, and if you haven't read those...you're missing out. All in all, a great collection. Highly recommended.

Eight Legs of Awesomeness!

Oh, what a tangled web Jen weaves in her creepy-crawly short stories. I’m a big fan of her Devany Miller series, so of course, my favorite spiderrific story was about Neutria. This author spins an entire world of magic that goes beyond eight-legged creatures. Midia is a reoccurring world where mystical monsters, witches, and powerful demons battle for power. It’s also home to my favorite ultra-feminist character, a badass spider named Neutria.
This anthology has a wide range of stories about spiders. One for every mood. Have your funny bone tickled by My Girlfriend’s a Spider. I loved the perspective in this tale. My mind is drawn toward mysteries, the supernatural the better. Dahlia Darkwater Walks Her Web is an excellent sample of a story that should be a full-length novel. First off, the names of the characters like “Sho” and “Dahlia Darkwater” are brilliant. It sets the tone for an unexpected murder. Of course, we should always expect a death when arachnids are involved. Shouldn’t we?
My young-at-heart ticker was pounding when I read Dance of the Spiderplum Fairies. It’s like wicked prose with creepy delight. The Clockwork Spider reminded me of a steampunk Pinocchio. Each tale has a creative twist and spine-tingling details that make me enjoy this writer’s style.

Well written, imaginative, heart warming... Jen Ponce makes spiders lovable and admirable, in addition to terrifying. Wonderful stories. Highly recommend.
